    Meet Dr. Jay Malmquist

    Jay P Malmquist D.M.D. is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with advanced training and experience with dental implants, bone regeneration, and bone grafting. His deep concern for his patients is matched only by his diligent study of innovations in his specialty. He has authored numerous articles and several chapters in textbooks on Implants, bone grafting and bone regeneration. Dr. Malmquist also lectures nationally and internationally on implant surgery and bone grafting. He has given more than five hundred major lectures throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. He pursued extensive research on bone physiology and regeneration at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and is now actively engaged in research protocols in the evolution of bone proteins and bone grafting techniques. The focus of his private practice in Portland, Oregon includes bone grafting, bone regeneration, and dental implant surgery. Dr. Malmquist traveled to Sweden early in his career and trained with the original founder of the concepts of osseointegration and implant reconstruction. Dr. Malmquist is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, an honor bestowed only after extensive written and oral examinations. He then served as an examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for seven years, a honor bestowed on few Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Malmquist is on the staff at several Portland-area hospitals providing trauma support for maxillofacial injuries. As a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, he is honored and recognized by his colleagues in dentistry. He has shared his knowledge with others as a past professor at Oregon Health Science University, contributing to the education of students and residents in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Malmquist has distinguished himself as the first Treasurer and first President of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons from the Pacific Northwest. The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons represents more than 8000 surgeons throughout the United States. He has also been honored with visiting professorships at the University of California, University of Tennessee, University of Nebraska, University of Alabama, University of Indiana and the University of Minnesota. He is currently the secretary of the Academy of Osseointegration.

    Meet Dr. Michael Malmquist

    Michael P. Malmquist DMD, is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with advanced training in bone regeneration, bone grafting, dental implant therapy, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, and pathology. He has a special interest in performing temporal mandibular joint surgery, or TMJ reconstructive surgery. His deep concern for his patients is matched only by his diligent study of innovation treatment modalities within his specialty. Dr. Malmquist was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. After graduating from Jesuit high school he attended The Citadel Military College of South Carolina and graduated with distinct honors. Dr. Malmquist then continued his education at Boston University School of Dental Medicine where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2007. He remained in the Boston area where he worked in private practice as a general dentist for several years. In 2009, Dr. Malmquist continued his training by specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed is internship and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Texas A&M, Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. After his residency, Dr. Malmquist completed a fellowship year with Dr. Pedro Franco, current president of American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, at DFW Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in Dallas Texas. In 2015, he relocated to his hometown Portland, Oregon to work alongside his father Dr. Jay P. Malmquist. Dr. Malmquist has published multiple articles and chapters in peer review journals and textbooks. He has lectured nationally on various topics pertaining to the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Malmquist has worked with non-profit organizations such as: Healing the Children performing pro bono medical care for patients with craniofacial syndromes in other countries. Dr. Malmquist also works with Dentistry from the Heart providing free oral surgery care to the local community. Dr. Malmquist is on the staff at several Portland-area hospitals and is a member of American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Western Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Oregon Dental Association/American Dental Association, Washington County, and Multnomah County Dental Associations. Aside from many interests in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Malmquist is an avid Oregon Duck and Portland Trailblazer fan. He loves spending time with his family and friends, especially his wife Ida and their bulldog Jackson.
